Jacksonville Jaguars left tackle Anton Harrison will have arthroscopic surgery on his right knee and will miss weeks, maybe months, The Associated Press reported Tuesday, a significant blow to a 4-1 team that is staying in London to face the Houston Texans on Sunday. The Jaguars placed Harrison on injured reserve, which will keep him out at least four games, and Walker Little is expected to start in his place at Wembley Stadium.

Harrison was carted off in the third quarter of Sunday's 19-17 win over the Philadelphia Eagles at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium. He had an MRI on Monday, and the surgery is planned for after the team returns to Jacksonville from its two-week stay in England.

A wide range of outcomes

How long Harrison is out will depend on what surgeons find once they look inside the knee. According to reporting by NFL Network's Ian Rapoport and ESPN's Jeremy Fowler, the recovery could take anywhere from three to five weeks to three to four months. The longer end of that range would sideline him for the rest of the regular season.

The injured reserve move sets a floor regardless of the surgical findings. Harrison will miss Sunday's game against Houston and, after the Week 7 bye, at least three more AFC games, against Indianapolis, Baltimore and Tennessee, according to Yahoo Sports.

On Monday, before the scope was scheduled, coach Liam Coen described Harrison as "a little stiff" and said the team would be patient if he was not able to practice, according to Yahoo Sports.

Harrison's move to the blind side

The injury interrupts the first season of a position change. Harrison, the 27th overall pick in the 2023 draft, started at right tackle for his first three NFL seasons and missed only three games in that span. The Jaguars moved him to left tackle in training camp, swapping sides with Cole Van Lanen, and picked up his fifth-year contract option in April.

Coen had been pleased with how Harrison handled the switch. The move put him on Lawrence's blind side for a team that has won four of its first five games.

Walker Little takes over

Little, who began the season as the Jaguars' swing tackle, replaced Harrison against the Eagles and played 31 snaps. He has started at left tackle in previous seasons, and Pro Football Focus gave him an 87.9 pass-blocking grade on 19 pass-blocking snaps against Philadelphia, a small sample but an encouraging one for a lineup that suddenly lacks depth.

With Little moving into the starting lineup, Coen said the Jaguars plan to elevate a lineman from the practice squad to add depth rather than sign someone from outside the organization, according to Yahoo Sports.

A long snapper scramble, too

Harrison was not the only Jaguar hurt in the win over Philadelphia. Long snapper Ross Matiscik injured his shoulder and could not finish the game. With no backup long snapper on the roster, defensive tackle DaVon Hamilton handled snapping duties the rest of the way.

The Jaguars moved quickly to fill the job. Veteran long snapper Jacob Bobenmoyer is signing with Jacksonville, NFL Network's Ian Rapoport reported, and Coen said Monday that a long snapper was "flying over and arriving in London today." Matiscik is not expected to be placed on injured reserve, according to Rapoport. Bobenmoyer previously snapped for the Denver Broncos and the Las Vegas Raiders. Hamilton will remain on standby, according to the AP.

How the Eagles game was won

The injuries came in one of the wildest finishes of the Jaguars' season. Philadelphia led 14-7 at halftime and went ahead 17-16 on a 48-yard Jake Elliott field goal with eight seconds left. Ameer Abdullah returned the ensuing kickoff 53 yards to the Eagles' 39-yard line with one second remaining, and Cam Little drilled a 57-yard field goal as time expired to give Jacksonville the 19-17 win.

Trevor Lawrence completed 24 of 39 passes for 331 yards and two touchdowns, both to Parker Washington, and threw an interception, according to the AP. Washington caught six passes for 124 yards, opening the scoring with a 51-yard touchdown in the first quarter and adding a 27-yard score late in the fourth. Cam Little missed the extra point wide left after that second touchdown, leaving the door open for Elliott's go-ahead kick before Little made up for it from 57 yards.

"One of the craziest games, maybe the craziest game I've ever been a part of," Lawrence said afterward. Little called the winning kick "the coolest moment of my career."

The Jaguars' own recap noted the team committed more than 10 penalties for the second straight game but made the plays it needed at the end.

Next up: Houston at Wembley

The Jaguars stayed in England after the Eagles game and will be the home team against Houston at Wembley Stadium on Sunday, Oct. 18. Kickoff is 9:30 a.m. Eastern on NFL Network, which means a breakfast-time broadcast for fans back in Jacksonville and across Northeast Florida.

The schedule around the two London games, according to the team's published 2026 slate:

DateGameNote
Oct. 11Eagles, Tottenham Hotspur StadiumW 19-17
Oct. 18Texans, Wembley Stadium9:30 a.m. ET, NFL Network
Oct. 25ByeWeek 7
Nov. 1Colts, JacksonvilleFirst game back home

Houston arrives at 1-4, a sharp drop for a team that went 12-5 in 2025 and finished second in the AFC South. The Texans won the teams' previous Wembley meeting, 26-3 in 2019.

What's next

Harrison's surgery after the London trip will determine whether the Jaguars are looking at a short-term fix or a season-long one at left tackle. In the near term, the bye week that follows the Texans game gives Jacksonville an extra week to settle the line, get Matiscik's shoulder healthy and evaluate Little at the position.

If the timeline lands at the shorter end, Harrison could return for the stretch run. If surgeons find more damage, the job belongs to Little, and the Jaguars' depth up front will be tested for the rest of the season.
