Frequently asked

Who is running for governor of Florida in 2026?

Ten tickets qualified for the Nov. 3, 2026 general election: Republican Byron Donalds with Bryan Avila, Democrat David Jolly with Gwen Graham, Libertarian Scott Eckhard Jewett with Nicole Skelly, five No Party Affiliation tickets (Dean Ocean Abrams, Charles Burkett, Jeffrey Peter Datto, Moliere Dimanche and Frank J. Russo) and two write-in tickets (Kathy Anderson and Erik Morris), according to the Florida Division of Elections. Gov. Ron DeSantis is term-limited.

Who is leading the Florida governor polls?

Byron Donalds has led most public polls since the Aug. 18 primary, by margins from under 1 point to 12 points. Three polls commissioned by Freedom Project USA and conducted by Change Research had Jolly ahead or the race tied, and St. Pete Polls had it within a tenth of a point twice. The table on this page lists each poll with a link to its release.

When is the Florida governor election?

Tuesday, Nov. 3, 2026. Polls are open 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. Every county offers early voting from Saturday, Oct. 24 through Saturday, Oct. 31, and counties may add days as early as Oct. 19 and on Nov. 1. Requests for a mailed vote-by-mail ballot close at 5 p.m. on Oct. 22, and mail ballots must reach the Supervisor of Elections by 7 p.m. on Election Day.

How long is a Florida governor’s term, and is there a term limit?

Four years. Article IV, Section 5(b) of the Florida Constitution says a person who has served as governor for more than six years in two consecutive terms cannot be elected to the next term, which is why Ron DeSantis, elected in 2018 and 2022, cannot run again in 2026.
